It does not exist anymore since the change to orange,

I don't know if it will return. You can see the changes in services
from Servihoo at

It also appears that external posts (ie outside Mauritius Telecom),
like yours, no longer appear on the local server (I have a
subscription to a foreign news service as well).

Thanks for the info Lotus. At a time when the government is trying to make
as many mauritians as possible computer literate, is not it an unwise move
to abolish this Forum? Look for the long arm of politics in this! :)

I think it is never a vote catching exercise to reduce services to the
people.

This forum cannot be removed...such is the structure of the Usenet.

However, there are now many more Mauritian web-based fora and blogs,
which are easier to use. When alt.mauritius was created ten years
ago, there was only one serious WWW forum (ile-maurice.com, which
still exists).

Incidentally, though your first message did not appear on the local
server, my reply did, even though it was sent via Giganews. So it is
not necessarily foreign servers that are having the problem.
